Minority Report 2025: Call for entries

By , 19 February 2025

Entries for the Minority Report are now open, the focus being on wines from varieties whose respective total plantings do not exceed 5 000ha.

South Africa’s eight most widely grown varieties (Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Colombar, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinotage, Chardonnay, and Merlot in that order) each cover over 5,000 hectares, collectively accounting for 81.4% of the national vineyard – this is a chance for the lesser-known varieties to shine!

Wines will be tasted by a three-person panel consisting of Christian Eedes as chairman as well as Ndaba Dube, Food & Beverage Operations Manager at the President Hotel in Cape Town and wine writer Malu Lambert.

Prize

The producers of the Best Overall White and Best Overall Red wines each receive R15,000 off a concrete egg from Cellier Wine Tanks – a discount of approximately 20%.

Entries are now closed. Deliveries to: 44 Liesbeek Rd, Rosebank, Cape Town.
