Akkura 2018

Pay attention.

Akkura 2018 is the result of a partnership between Raphael Paterniti and Marta Gobbo of wine retailers Openwine and Giuseppe La Gattuta of Sebisa Farm, a country house in Wellington.

The wine is from Breedekloof Muscat d’Alexandrie (or Zibibbo di Pantelleria as it is known in Sicily, La Gattuta born in Palermo, the capital of Sicily) and was made by Henry Kotzé of Morgenster.

Fermented in tank, it’s an uncomplicated, thirst-quenching drop. The nose shows floral perfume and a subtle fynbos-like note to go with a certain grape-like character while the palate has clean fruit and fresh acidity. Price: R129 a bottle.

Editor’s rating: 87/100.
