Delheim Wild Ferment Chenin Blanc 2021

By , 26 January 2023

Stellenbosch property Delheim’s Wild Ferment Chenin Blanc 2021 is first vintage to sport a Certified Heritage Vineyards seal, the block in question planted in 1986, the same year that current winemaker Roelof Lotriet was born!

Matured in a combination of older 500-litre oak barrels and concrete eggs for approximately nine months, the end result is nothing if not characterful. Pear, peach, pineapple and lots of yeasty complexity on the nose before a palate that is relatively rich with tangy acidity and a savoury finish (alcohol is 13.5%). Big on flavour but not short on freshness. Price: R170 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 93/100.
