Dornier Moordenaarskloof Chenin Blanc 2019

By , 16 December 2019

Killer.

Moordenaarskloof is the name that Stellenbosch property Dornier has given to a top-end Chenin Blanc made from a 1986 block at an elevation of 230 metres and while the maiden vintage 2017 seemed a little unresolved, the 2019 is much more convinving (no 2018 due to the impact of the drought).

Matured in old 300-litre French oak barrels, the nose shows a hint of hay before pear and peach plus some more nutty, earthy character. The palate, meanwhile, is pleasing plush – good fruit concentration and nicely coated acidity before a savoury finish. Price: R270 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 91/100.
