Stellenbosch Manor is a mid-tier label that was developed by Stellenrust for the UK market but is increasingly available locally. The current release of the Chenin Blanc is from the 2019 vintage, grapes from a 42-year-old block in Bottelary, vinification involving spontaneous fermentation before maturation lasting seven months in older oak.

The nose shows lemon, fynbos and a hint of honeysuckle while the palate is medium-bodied with bright acidity and a gently savoury finish. It’s well-positioned in that’s a slightly more studied rendition than the standard unwooded but equally not nearly as rich and leesy as the top-end versions of the variety from this cellar. Price: R150 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 92/100.

Apologies I’m advance as my comment is not related to Stellenbosch Manor but I needed a way to reach out. Have you all noticed how this year the Black Fridays deals are crap and uninteresting. From Wine Cellar to all the others, nothing, absolutely nothing interesting and worth our effort and money. I just read this is the general impression shared by all South Africans on pretty much everything. And this is the year when most people are looking for serious deals for those who can still afford something. Come on Retailers, wake up. Any thoughts?
