Chris and Joanne Hurst established a garden vineyard in Swartland village of Koringberg in the mid-2000s and first made wine under the Wildehurst label in 2009.  Members of the Swartland Independent organisation, they’ve subsequently launched a second label called Velo (the label featuring a photo of Chris and friend on Velocette motorcycles taken in the 1950s).

Veloblanc 2013 is a blend of 57% Colombar, 22% Chenin Blanc and 21% Viognier. With an abv of only 12.5%, it’s fruity, light and fresh. No great complexity but eminently drinkable. R91 a bottle from Wine Concepts in Newlands.

Score: 84/100.
