Peter Pentz Snr (1944 – 2025)

Peter Pentz Snr of Groote Post in Darling passed away early yesterday morning at the age of 80 after a short illness.

The Pentz family acquired Groote Post in 1972 and went on to expand their holdings to some 2,800 hectares through the purchase of neighbouring farms. Initially a dairy enterprise, the first vineyards were planted in 1993 and the maiden vintage released in 1999. Two years later, in a decisive move, the family sold their prized Holstein herd to devote themselves fully to wine production.

Pentz is survived by his spouse Lesli, children Nick, Wouter, and Diane, and grandchildren.
