Amazing Grace Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

How sweet the sound.

Amazing Grace Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 (or La Petite Vigne The Daniel Collection Amazing Grace Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 to give it its full name) is made by Kevin Swart, also a partner in Black Elephant Vintners, as a tribute to his late father Daniel Johannes Swart.

Fruit for the 2014 is from Swart’s Franschhoek farm, two blocks planted in 1999 and 2003 while maturation lasted 24 months in French oak, 50% new.

The nose is very perfumed with notes of herbs and flowers and an almost musky quality to go with red berries. The palate is light bodied but pure fruited, the acidity fresh and the tannins fine. It’s a particularly elegant drop with a nice energy about it. Price: R335 a bottle.

Editor’s rating: 91/100.
