Mount Abora Saffraan Cinsaut 2015

Mount Abora Saffraan Cinsaut 2015
Trend setter.

Saffraan Cinsaut under the Mount Abora label always sits high up on the deliciousness index, the 2015 particularly so (Wine Cellar price: R110 a bottle).

Made by Johan “Stompie” Meyer, grapes come from a 37-year-old Swartland vineyard, the final wine extraordinarily expressive despite a alcohol of just 11.19%.

The nose shows raspberry, strawberry, red rose, scrub and white pepper. The palate is lean but very flavourful with snappy acidity and super-fine yet still grippy tannins. Resistance is futile.

#WinemagRating: 91/100.

  1. When you drink this wine, the wind automatically blows through your hair – even if you’re indoors. Listening to Dave Gilmour masterstroking his guitar on the opening of Pink Floyd’s ‘Sorrow’ has much the same effect. Try it without a hat on.
