Cape Winemakers Guild ends Nedbank partnership

The Cape Winemakers Guild, the longstanding organisation which exists to drive excellence and transformation, has ended its long-standing partnership with Nedbank to explore a refreshed future vision and event format. Read the full statement from CWG chairperson Samantha O’Keefe below:

“Our contract with Nedbank was up for renewal at the end of 2024. It was the Guild that chose not to renew the contract with Nedbank and they were informed early in 2024. After a fruitful 29 year partnership, and an exciting generational change in the membership, we felt the synergy was no longer there. There was no animosity, and we enthusiastically completed all of the 2024 events with great success.

The members voted to go without a sponsor so the Guild could consider its needs with the ability to reconceive a new future full of new ideas and a completely different “event” structure.

Because of Cape Wine and the full calendar in September, we are not having a Cape Town Showcase. The Johannesburg VIP Tasting and Pretoria Country Club events will go forward as usual. The two-day Auction with the Pre-Auction Tasting will take place on the 3 and 4 October.

Regarding a new sponsor, the members decided that we would allow ourselves time to make sure any future partnership aligns with the Guild’s goals, mission and energy.”
