Savage Follow the Line 2016

Second self.

If Duncan Savage’s Red 2016 is characterized by reined-in power (see here), then Follow the Line is something of an alter-ego, the key characteristics being lightness and freshness.

A blend of 41% Cinsaut, 35% Grenache and 24% Syrah, it shows red and black fruit, white pepper and fynbos on the nose. It’s fruit-forward in the best sense and gently savoury on the finish. Well balanced and already quite approachable. Wine Cellar price: R245 a bottle.

Editor’s rating: 92/100.

Just bought a bottle of the 16 from Cahns in central Auckland. Will let you know what I think. So hard to find Cinsault wines in NZ.
