Cape Wine Auction raises R17.5 million

CWA 2018The fifth  annual Cape Wine Auction, sponsored by Nedbank Private Wealth, took place on Saturday at Rustenberg in Stellenbosch, raising R17.5 million compared to R22.3 million last year. All proceeds are allocated to Cape winelands education.

The day’s highest bid of R750 000 went for the Oneiric French Riviera Lot which included five nights in a private villa in Cannes on the French Riviera for eight people and lunch or dinner in the private dining room of South African chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen’s JAN, the Michelin star restaurant in Nice. Four signed magnum bottles of the sold-out Bordeaux-style red blend First Quantum Grand Reserve 2011 were included in the package.
