Da bomb.

Da bomb.

How to spend an idle Sunday afternoon. The top 10 from the Christian Eedes Chardonnay Report 2011 plus some decent Burgundy sourced from Wine Cellar, the Cape Town firm which brokers and cellars fine wine.

Wine of the day Henri Boillot Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes 2010. Waves of aroma and flavour – blossom, fennel, menthol, intense citrus, a hint of rancio. Thick textured but not awkward, coated acidity.

The top SA wines were the intense Julien Schaal Mountain Vineyards 2010 and the subtle but complex Ataraxia 2009. The HRV 2009 was not unpleasing but seemed unduly developed – random bottle oxidation?
