Du Toitskloof Viognier 2025

By , 24 April 2026

To date, the Legacy range from Du Toitskloof has comprised an Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc (the 2024 vintage scoring 94 and placing in the Top 12 of last year’s Old Vine Report), an Old Vine Chenin Blanc (91 in the same Report), a Pinotage, a red blend called Dimension, and a Nebbiolo. A new addition is a Viognier, which scored 91 and placed joint best of the five entries in this year’s Prescient Fund Services Minority Report.

What is most striking about the wine is its precision. It was matured for six months in new oak and carries an alcohol of 14.5%, yet it avoids the overtly opulent, almost languid character this variety can so easily slip into. The nose is intensely expressive with notes of citrus, peach, floral perfume and fynbos while the palate is balanced – good weight and texture balanced by punchy acidity, the finish savoury. Price: R155 a bottle.
