Dalkeith Kalmoesfontein Chenin Blanc 2019

Dalkeith Kalmoesfontein Chenin Blanc 2019 won silver in this year’s Label Design Awards – the wine named after a waterhole in the Kalahari. But does what’s in the bottle deliver?  Grapes come from vines around 50 years old on Adi Badenhorst’s farm in the Swartland while winemaker is Graham Weerts, also responsible for Capensis, the joint venture between Barbara Banke of Jackson Family Wines and Anthony Beck of Graham Beck.

The nose shows dried peach and apricot, some yeasty complexity and spice while the palate shows great depth of fruit to go with a good line of acidity before a savoury finish. A well-balanced wine with layers of flavour. Price: R285 a bottle.
