The 2021 vintage of Botanica Mary Delany Chenin Blanc made by Ginny Povall with grapes from a 1957 vineyard on Citrusdal Mountain as cultivated by the late Henk Laing is simply superb. The nose is super-complex with notes of pear, peach, floral perfume and some yeasty complexity while the palate has both clarity and weight – dense fruit but also no shortage of refreshment. Well rounded with coated acidity and some pithy grip. Price: R450 a bottle.
