If you like your Cap Classique to have spent extended time on the lees, look no further than Jacques Bruére Blanc de Blancs 2012 from Robertson cellar Bon Courage, the current release having undergone disgorgement precisely 120 months or 10 years after vintage according to the back label (also worth noting is that 10% of the base wine underwent barrel fermentation).
Deep amber in colour, the nose shows baked bread, honey and a hint of marmite plus touches of citrus and peach while the palate is rich with a creamy in texture thanks to a fine mousse. Fresh acidity, meanwhile, lends drive and the finish is intensely savoury ensuring this is in no way trivial. Price: R245 a bottle.
