Ginny Povall of Botanica has added a wonderfully understated Semillon to her range of wines. From Elgin fruit, it was matured for 10 months in second-fill barrels. The nose shows lime, green apple plus a little thatch typical of the variety while the palate is pleasantly lean with pure fruit and lively acidity. Tightly wound now, my guess is it needs another six to 12 months to open up. Price: R150 a bottle.
