How different could bottle-fermented fizz Pongrácz in 375ml half-bottle be to that in the standard 750ml offering? Not very but the launch involved an evening cruise on luxury yacht Tigger 2 in Table Bay and you have to be pretty jaded to pass up on that.
For the pedants out there, winemaker Elunda Basson says that because a perception exists that bubbly in the small format bottle is prone to premature development, she disgorges it slightly earlier than the usual 24 months than the bubbly in 750ml bottle. Perhaps it was auto-suggestion, but I did think the numerous number of glasses I had tasted slightly fresher than usual.
