Merlot Report 2018

The second annual Merlot Report in association with the official producer body known as the Merlot Forum and barrel suppliers Chene South Africa is now out.
67 entries were received from 53 producers for this year’s competition and we included the Chateau Nenin Grand Vin Pomerol 2014 as a ringer. These were tasted blind (labels out of sight) by the three-person panel, scoring done according to the 100-point quality scale.
The prize for best wine overall was a Taransaud Tonnellerie 225-litre barrel worth R14 720 sponsored by Chene South Africa.
