One of the most important measures of great wine is that it should be age-worthy and with this in mind, Winemag.co.za is running the tenth annual 10-Year-Old Wine Report.
Producers are invited to enter any wine from the 2016 vintage. Wines will be tasted blind by a three-person panel of Christian Eedes as chairman as well as James Pietersen of Wine Cellar, Cape Town merchants and cellarers of fine wine and Francois Rautenbach, a hospitality and wine specialist, scoring done according to the 100-point system.

This should prove a most facinating tasting. After the success of the 2015 vintage, many 2016 wines were considered inferior on release – rightly or wrongly. But of course, the often sighted Neal Martin score for the Paul Sauer 2016 being higher than his 2015 score (the Tim Atkin 100 pointer) illustrates the simple divergence of opinion among critics.
