Secateurs Riviera 2025
By Christian Eedes, 23 February 2026
Is Secateurs Riviera 2025 (price: R245) from AA Badenhorst Family Wines the most well-behaved orange wine ever made? A blend of 67% Chenin Blanc, 16% Grenache Blanc, 10% Roussanne and 7% Viognier co-fermented in concrete, skin contact lasting a week, the nose shows stone fruit, orange and the merest hints of floral perfume, fynbos and spice. The palate is medium bodied with tangy acidity and a gently savoury, not particularly grippy finish. It’s not unpleasant but devotees of the style may find it a little too polite. Alc: 13.5%.
CE’s rating: 89/100.
