Abrie Beeslaar, who joined leading Stellenbosch property Kanonkop in February 2002, is set to stand down as head winemaker in August this year, to concentrate on his own brand Beeslaar Wines. He will continue to consult part-time, winemaking at Kanonkop becoming more team-based. Francois van Zyl, who was winemaker at Laibach before it was it was acquired by Kanonkop in 2022 and became Ladybird Vineyards, will be an important figure while Suzaan Krige, daughter of co-owner Paul Krige and who has both a BCom and BSc in viticulture and oenology from Stellenbosch University, comes on board.

@christian, do you know if Rudger van wyk is going and who will be replacing him at Stark Conde?
Christian Eedes | 6 February 2024
Hi James, Rudger left Stark-Conde at the end of last year and is apparently consulting at the moment. He has been replaced by John Lochner, previously assistant winemaker at Muratie.
