Brookdale appoints Xander Sadie as winemaker
By Christian Eedes, 29 October 2024
Brookdale in the Paarl has appointed Xander Sadie as its new winemaker, with him set to take up his position “at the end of the year” in time for the 2025 harvest. He replaces Kiara Scott Farmer who is moving to Hazendal in Stellenbosch.
Xander is the younger son of Eben Sadie of Sadie Family Wines. He holds a diploma in Cellar Technology and Viticulture from Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute and joins Brookdale from BlankBottle, owned by the innovative Pieter Walser.
Sadie will be assisted by Shanice du Preez, who joined Brookdale earlier this month. She holds a BSc Agric degree in Viticulture and Oenology from Stellenbosch University and won the CWG Protégé of the Year Award in 2022.
