Constantia Fresh 2012

The third annual Constantia Fresh festival takes place over 24 and 25 February.  A celebration of the wines of this ward, this year’s programme include the following:

1) Syrah and Bordeaux Blend Tasting (Friday afternoon)
This will illustrate how well Constantia’s red wines compares to some of the world’s finest. Tickets: R1 500 per person.

2) Fine dining at The Greenhouse Restaurant, Cellars-Hohenort Hotel (Friday evening)
This will features some of the finest white, red and sweet wines Constantia and Bordeaux have to offer. Guests will be given a welcome address by Peter Tempelhoff, recently awarded the status of Grand Chef at the Relais and Châteaux congress in Lisbon. This will be followed by a five-course degustation menu matched with 12 local and international wines. Guests can expect to drink wines such as the Steenberg Magna Carta, Château Lascombes, Château L’Eglise Clinet , Château Leoville Barton, Grand Constance and Vin de Constance. Tickets: R1 500 per person.

3) Walk-around tasting at Buitenverwachting (Saturday)
A focus on South Africa’s top examples of Sauvignon Blanc accompanied by canapés made by some of South Africa’s best chefs to complement the wines. An elegantly constructed braai will take place in the early evening where Constantia’s red wines will be served. Tickets: R400 per person.
