After I nominated 13 wines for Five Stars in Platter’s 2012, none of which were endorsed (see here), I was obviously anxious that I would have a better hit rate with the wines I put forward for the 2013 edition.
There were 160 wines nominated this time around of which 62 were endorsed. I nominated nine, three of which made the cut. These were respectively:
Five Stars
Dalla Cia Giorgio 2007
Kanonkop Pinotage 2010
Ken Forrester The Gypsy 2009
Highly recommended (Four and a Half Stars)
Constantia Uitsig Sauvignon Blanc 2012
Corder Family Cool Climate Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Ernie Els Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
Ernie Els CWG Auction Reserve 2010
Mulderbosch Faithful Hound 2010
Mulderbosch Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2010

I’m with you on the Mulderbosch wines, Christian, if the Faithful Hound is anything like the 2009 and the Barrel Fermented Chardonnay is anything like the 2008.

A 300% improvement on last year! That’s quite a steep upward curve!
