Prescient Sauvignon Blanc Report 2021: Call for entries
By Christian Eedes, 6 September 2021
Entries for the Sauvignon Blanc Report 2021 sponsored by multinational financial services company Prescient are now open, sub-categories including 1) Unwooded Sauvignon Blanc; 2) Wooded Sauvignon Blanc and 3) Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon Blends.
Winemag.co.za will be generating a number of category reports throughout the year – see here. Each report will be based on the outcome of a blind tasting of wines entered. Upon the release of a report, a Top 10 will be announced and the year will culminate in a gala event when the individual best wine in each category will be celebrated. These top-performing wines will subsequently be shown at tastings in both Johannesburg and London.
The Sauvignon Blanc category will be tasted by a three-person panel consisting of Christian Eedes as chairman, Ndabezinhle Dube, Food & Beverage Operations Manager at the President Hotel, Cape Town and James Pietersen of Wine Cellar, Cape Town merchants and cellarers of fine wine.
Prize
The producer of the blend judged best overall will win a new 225-litre Sylvain Blanc barrel worth €879 (the equivalent of R14 750 at the time of writing) from Tonnellerie Sylvain.
Entries are now closed. Deliveries to: 44 Liesbeek Rd, Rosebank, Cape Town.
