SAA-logoSouth African Airways recently announced the winners of its annual wine awards arising out of its onboard wine selection for 2014. The winners were:

White Wine: Spier Creative Block 2 2012
Red Wine: Provenance Rooi 2011 (Saronsberg)
Mèthode Cap Classic: Villiera Brut Natural Chardonnay 2009
Fortified: Boplaas Cape Tawny Show Reserve N/V
SAA CEO’s Award (best performance – most listings): DGB
SAA Chairperson’s Award (largest supplier): DGB

    With the volumes involved, and the intricacies of submitting, bottling, supplying, it comes as no surprise that SAA goes for middle-of-the-road consistency. Nothing wrong with it, but… yawn.
