Ernie Els Wines has acquired Stellenzicht from Lusan Premium Wines, the joint venture between Distell and German financier Hans Schreiber.

In 2015, golfer Ernie Els took on Baron Hans von Staff-Reitzenstein, a renowned German wine collector, as an investor in his wine business with a view to growing it significantly

Ernie Els Wines currently has 70 ha under vineyard and Stellenzicht’s 218 ha plus modern cellar and bottling facility dramatically increases capacity. Ernie Els Wines have a stated policy of focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon going forwards and the re-planting program at Stellenzicht will see preference given to this variety. Ernie Els Wines cellarmaster Louis Strydom and his team take control of operations at Stellenzicht from July 2017.
