Poured yesterday at the Big 5 Tasting organised by Jörg Pfützner of Fine Wine Events: Bordeaux First Growth Mouton Rothschild 2004, 2003, 2001 and 1995.
Baron Philippe de Rothschild took over the running of Mouton Rothschild in 1922 and in 1945 instigated the series of artist’s labels, each year designed by a well-known artist, thus adding to the collectability of the wine.
Decanter.com reports that the 2008 vintage of Mouton Rothschild has almost doubled in value after Chinese artist Xu Lei was confirmed for its label. Read more here.
