Each year, the editors of US publication Wine Spectator survey the wines reviewed over the previous 12 months and select their Top 100, based on quality, value, availability and excitement. This annual list honors successful wineries, regions and vintages around the world.
SA took two places in 2017:
49. Rust en Vrede Syrah 2014 – score: 92
100. Sadie Family ‘T Voetpad 2015 – score: 95

Thanks, Kwispedoor. That explains that price discrepancy between US retail and cellar-door 🙂

Kwispedoor: Where is it possible to buy the ‘T Voetpad 2015 in SA? (I live in the US now, but may visit SA soon, and would like to grab a bottle when I’m there if possible!)

Unfortunately only from private collectors, I think Joe. It sells out within about a week at most from release every year if you consider all the possible buying options. And getting a private collector that will part with them will be tricky.

The ranking of those two wines made no sense to me, until I saw that the ‘T Voetpad goes for $67 in the States. Thank you Eben for making the wine affordable to Saffer wine lovers!
