Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2012: Anthony Rose on wine and old media

“The decline of wine coverage in print titles is illogical,” says Anthony Rose, long-serving wine correspondent of The Independent newspaper in the UK and one of the three international judges at this year’s Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show. “It’s partly because decision makers in media don’t understand wine or are afraid of it and it’s partly because the overall improvement in wine quality reduces the perceived need for wine recommendations. But the reduction in media coverage comes at a time of massive expansion in the wine world, something that makes wine more confusing than ever…”
