A.A. Badenhorst Family Wines Dassiekop Steen 2015
By Christian Eedes, 27 September 2016
From a single vineyard planted in the 1956 on the Paardeberg. An extraordinarily complex and exotic nose with a floral top note before white peach, naartjie, orange, pineapple and a hint of spice. The palate, meanwhile, is rich and very flavourful – lovely pure fruit, plenty of weight and texture but equally not short on freshness, the finish long and savoury. A bit of a showstopper. Wine Cellar price: R360 a bottle.
