Allesverloren Red Muscadel 2013

By , 26 May 2014

At R107 a bottle, the maiden vintage Red Muscadel 2013 from Swartland property Allesverloren ain’t cheap. It did however win the title of SA Champion Muscadel at the SA Young Wine Show last year and if you like fortifieds, this is a pretty smart example.

Strawberry, spice and some fynbos on the nose. Good fruit concentration, bright acidity and a long, dry finish. Thick textured but not too much so – clean, well balanced and more-ish. Abv: 16.5%, RS 208.1g/l, TA: 4.4 g/l, pH: 3.25.

Score: 90/100.
