At se Wyn is a range of wines conceived by Stephan Niehaus, winemaker being Christa Von La Chevallerie of Huis van Chevallerie and the labels featuring paintings  by Paternoster-based artist At Botha – bronze at last year’s Label Design Awards.

The stand-out wine is At se Rooi 2018. From Swartland Pinotage, the nose shows dark cherry, earth, dried herbs and spice while the palate is medium bodied (alcohol is 13.5%) with fresh acidity and nicely grippy, even slightly bitter tannins. It’s a wine with lots of rustic appeal rather than refinement.

CE’s rating: 91/100.

Also available is At se Wit 2021 (59% Chenin Blanc, 15% Palomino, 15% Verdelho and 11% Grenache Blanc) and At se Rosé 2021 (Pinotage) which are both light, zippy and most appealing if not that complex. All wines sell for R125 a bottle.
