B Vintners Lone Wolf Cinsault 2019
By Christian Eedes, 22 June 2020
New (in South Africa) to the B Vintners range as made by cousins Bruwer Raats and Gavin Slabbert is the Lone Wolf Cinsault 2019, grapes from old vines on Bottelary property Bellevue and winemaking involving 100% carbonic maceration.
The result is a particularly urbane and charming take on the variety. The nose shows cranberry, raspberry, rose and delicate notes of herbs and spice while the palate is light-bodied with bright, slightly sour acidity and powdery tannins, the finish nicely dry. Only 1 000 bottles made. Price: R245 a bottle.
CE’s rating: 93/100.
