Beaumont Hope Marguerite Chenin Blanc 2016

Exquisite. Just exquisite. Grapes from the two oldest vineyards on this Bot River property owned by the Beaumont family, one planted in 1974 and the other in 1978, fermentation occurred spontaneously in 400-litre French oak barrels, 22% new before 10 months of maturation.
The nose is a glorious mélange of straw, apple, citrus, stone fruit and lanolin (the posh word for “wet wool”), a certain earthiness and some flinty reduction. The palate meanwhile shows great purity and poise. With waves and waves of flavour and just the right amount of texture and weight, this is an extraordinarily multi-faceted wine. Wine Cellar price: R270 a bottle.
Editor’s rating: 97/100.

Fabulous wine again and an absolute steal at the price. The Beaumont’s rarely disappoint. Bravo
