Blake’s Boys Chenin Blanc 2016

Of its place.

Andries Blake, now manager at Klawer Cellars, previously spent 17 years at Swartland Winery. No surprise then that his Chenin Blanc made from grapes from that district and bottled under his own Blake’s Boys label is pretty smart.

Fermented and matured in French oak, 50% new, the nose shows hay, stone fruit and some leesy complexity while the palate is rich and ripe – sweet fruit offset by tangy acidity before a gently savoury finish. Price: R90 a bottle.

Editor’s rating: 89/100.
