Bringing Back The Joy Skin Contact Sauvignon Blanc 2019

By , 31 March 2020

Happy go lucky.

Bringing Back The Joy is made by Chris Groenewald, whose day job is managing sales for Mullineux & Leeu, with grapes from Danie Carinus of Carinus Family Wines in the cellar of Lukas van Loggerenberg – juice and skins into two plastic eggs for two weeks before pressing, then back into the eggs for nine months.

Dull amber in colour, the nose shows cut apple, a hint of honey, dried herbs and white pepper. The palate is rich, broad and flavourful, a very slight grippy quality to the finish. It’s pleasantly rustic – any lack of refinement it makes up for in interest factor. Not yet released but due to sell for R160 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 90/100.
