Château Le Bon Pasteur 2004

By , 21 May 2013

When Remhoogte showed its red blends from the 2000s which were influenced by Bordeaux consultant Michel Rolland recently, a 2004 from Rolland’s own Pomerol property Le Bon Pasteur (about R600 a bottle on the open market) was opened by way of comparison.

A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Intense black in colour, extremely rich and imposing. Plums, cassis and chocolate with moderate acidity and smooth tannins. All very polished but still more lively than the Bonne Nouvelle of the same year.

Score: 89/100.
