Constantiavale is the name given to the wine as made by attorney Alan Jeftha and sons Jaimie and Raphael off their small planting of Syrah on their Constantia property next to Eagles’ Nest.

2019 vintage is the second vintage to be released and it’s rather good. Red and blackberries, some herbal character and a hint of pepper on the nose while the palate is light-bodied and energetic with good fruit concentration, bright acidity and crunchy tannins. Alcohol: 13.5%. Only 650 bottles made. Price: R220 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 92/100.
