With a price tag of R850 a bottle, the Art of Pinot Noir is the deluxe offering of this variety from Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge property Creation.
While the 2014 was entirely overdone for me, the 2015 is more successful. Production of this vintage was limited to 3050 bottles and winemaking involved 20% whole bunch fermentation and then maturation in 90% new oak. The nose shows some floral perfume before cherries, strawberries, plums plus hints of oak-derived vanilla and spice. The palate is rich and smooth textured, plenty of sweet fruit offset by tangy acidity. You wouldn’t call the wine “delicate” but it certainly is flavourful.
#WinemagRating: 89/100.

Christian is this the same wine that Tim Atkin named as one if his Pinot’s of the year in the 2016 SA report?

Hi Piwter, Yes. As it so happens.
