Daschbosch Steen 2014
By Christian Eedes, 29 July 2015
Daschbosch is one of the cellars which make up the Breedekloof collective known as uniWines and it’s another with a wine that forms part of the Chenin Blanc Initiative.
Grapes come from a 14 year old vineyard, the wine fermented and matured for eight months in old oak. Really expressive on the nose – a top note of honeysuckle before yellow peach and spanspek, spice plus a little earthiness. Rich and broad on the palate – pure, sweet fruit offset by tangy acidity. Perhaps a bit short but other than that, lots to recommend it. Price: R120 a bottle.
Score: 91/100.
