Stellenbosch operation Deux Frères Wines was begun in 2008, when brothers Retief and Stephan du Toit decided to continue to build on their wine heritage left to them by their mother, Hester and stepfather Marc Wiehe, the late founder of L’Avenir.
Most recently, they have started to lease a vineyard of Sauvignon Blanc on a neighbouring farm, this planted in 1985 and therefore able to carry Old Vine Project heritage certification. The nose shows peach and even a little apricot, papaya and some white pepper while the palate is rich and round – plenty of flavour, nicely integrated acidity and a dry finish. A lot of wine given a modest alcohol of 12.3%. Price: R250 a bottle.
CE’s rating: 91/100.

That’s very cool, I hope we get more winemakers making Old Vine Sauvignons
