Elmie Rosé 2018

By , 19 December 2019

Pretty in pink.

Local rosé was until recently a rather weak category but some more considered efforts are starting to emerge, the Elmie 2018 a case in point. Made by Reg Holder, previously of Delheim, working in conjunction with viticulturist Etienne Terblanche from Stellenbosch Pinotage, it’s an understated offering. Pale orange in colour, the nose is shy with just a hint of rose-like perfume while the palate is very light and fresh – there’s a subtle red fruit character before a gently pithy finish. Approximate retail price: R195 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 89/100.
