Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Chenin Blanc 2015
By Christian Eedes, 3 August 2016
The maiden vintage Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Chenin Blanc 2014 sat at a stylistic extreme in terms of how imposing it was (see here) and the 2015 is again a big wine.
On the nose, a top note of honeysuckle before lemon and white peach plus spice and some leesy complexity. The palate appears sweet but is in fact bone-dry in terms of the residual sugar 1.43g/l although the alcohol is high at 14.48%. Plenty of power and weight but once again it hangs together pretty well. Price: R120 a bottle.
#WinemagRating: 91/100.
