The 2019 vintage of Tolbos Tannat from grower Bertie Coetzee of Lowerland in Prieska, Northern Cape and winemaker Lukas van Loggerenberg is the best yet. Vinification involving 60% whole-bunch fermentation, the nose shows red and black fruit, some floral perfume, rosemary and pine while the palate possesses juicy fruit, bright acidity and fine tannins before a salty finish – lovely poise and purity. Price: R325 a bottle.
