Luddite Saboteur White 2016

The 2015 Saboteur White Luddite in Bot River caused great excitement (see here) and the newly released 2016 sports the same alternative packaging while the quality of what’s inside is even better.
It’s a blend of 66% Chenin Blanc, 23% Sauvignon Blanc and 11% Viognier sourced from various vineyards in Bot River, Elgin and Overberg. The Chenin and Viognier were fermented on the skins for 20 days and all the components spent six months in old French oak.
The nose has wonderfully fragrant top notes of flowers and dried herbs before lime, pear and peach. The palate meanwhile has impressive substance – succulent fruit upfront before a very dry and long finish. Just layers and layers of flavour. Approximate retail price: R160 a bottle.
#WinemagRating: 95/100.
