Maison Chenin Blanc 2014
Price: R120

From a 1.14ha block and tank fermented. The nose shows a honeysuckle top note before lemon and pineapple and a little yeasty complexity. Plenty of ripe fruit and thick in texture – quite curious to encounter such a rich unwooded example. Moderate yet tangy acidity.

#WinemagRating: 89/100.

Maison Shiraz 2011

Lifestyle accoutrement.

Maison Shiraz 2011
Price: R250

Matured for 12 months in 228-litre French oak, 30% new. Red and black fruit, intense pepper plus a little vanilla and some smokiness. Full but balanced with fresh acidity and smooth tannins. Contemporary but not too modern like the furniture.

#WinemagRating: 89/100.
