Momento Chenin Blanc Verdelho 2018

By , 9 July 2019

The Chenin Blanc Verdelho from Marelise Niemann of Momento Wines has always been an intriguing wine, the whole greater than the sum of the parts, and in the case of the 2018 vintage Niemann has opted to make the component Verdelho even greater than previously, the wine now firmly a “Cape White Blend” rather than “Chenin Blanc with a twist”.

Price: R250
67% Chenin Blanc sourced from Bot River and Paardeberg vineyards, 33% Verdelho from Voor Paardeberg. Orange, quince, stone fruit to go with herbs and a little nuttiness on the nose. The palate is light yet flavourful with snappy acidity and a pleasant grippiness to the finish. Layered, long and satisfying.

Editor’s rating: 94/100.
